We’re all in this together
Now that Donald Trump is on criminal trial and on track to be convicted, the implications for our democracy are profound. This is both the trial of the century and the political storyline of the century, all in one. The whole thing is far bigger than any one person.
That said, as this trial has gotten underway, an interesting phenomenon has been playing out for me personally. A lot of people keep reaching out to tell me that I was right. I was right that Trump would go on criminal trial long before the election. I was right that a jury would be easily seated. I was right that Alvin Bragg never did drop his case against Trump, when everyone on TV and Twitter was claiming that he had.
Yes, I was right about these things. And thank you for reminding me of it. Sometimes I can get so deep into covering these things, I don’t always notice that part of it. But I also think that you deserve credit. You’re the ones who evaluated what I had to say, evaluated what you were hearing elsewhere, and figured out what was logically valid and what was just noise. And then you had the courage to share my articles, and quote me, and stick with the validity of what I was saying, even when 95% of the industry was insisting the precise opposite would happen.
It’s a little easier to be me these days, with everyone starting to figure out that my analysis was indeed on track. And it’s a little easier to be a Palmer Report reader these days, because fewer people are going to push back against you for quoting me, and more people are going to say “Yep that’s the guy who had it right.”
So here in our little Palmer Report universe, we’re all benefiting right now, author and readers. And that’s fantastic. It’s also important, because – as I like to keep pointing out – the battle never really ends. The GOP will continue to limp along with Trump for as long as it can. There will still be a 2024 election no matter how these trials go. And even long after Trump is gone, the right wing powers that be will still continue to try to do evil.
The more influence we have, as Palmer Report author and audience, the more of an impact we can have on whatever comes next. So all this validation we’re currently receiving, author and audience, let’s take it as a blessing. And let’s prepare to put it to good use. We’re all in this together. And we’ve just begun to fight and win.
