We knew this was coming

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

It’s important to keep in mind that the DOJ’s criminal probe into Donald Trump’s classified documents scandal became public knowledge back in April. By May, it was publicly reported that the probe was in the grand jury stage. This DOJ Trump probe isn’t new or a surprise. The media just spent a long time pretending it didn’t exist.

In April, the House Oversight Committee’s attempt at obtaining evidence in the Trump classified documents probe resulted in the DOJ sending the committee a letter acknowledging it was investigating the matter. The media reported on that letter for a day, then buried the story and went back to insisting the DOJ wasn’t investigating Trump.

In May, the Washington Post reported that the DOJ’s probe into Trump’s stolen classified documents had reached the grand jury stage. The media once again reported on that for a day. After that, the media (including the Washington Post) buried the story and went back to insisting the DOJ wasn’t investigating Trump.

With no further details about this probe emerging from May until the day of the raid, it’s understandable that the media didn’t want to keep covering the probe each day. But during this same timeframe, when the media knew there was an active DOJ grand jury criminal probe into Trump by its own reporting, the media’s ‘DOJ is not investigating Trump’ narrative indefensibly hit a fevered pitch.

Worse, the media continued to largely insist the DOJ wasn’t investigating Trump, even as the DOJ’s separate probe into Trump’s fake elector scandal escalated to search and seizure warrants being carried out in public view against Trump co-conspirators Eastman and Clark.

Even when the media finally admitted last month that the DOJ was investigating Trump, it still only acknowledged the fake elector probe, and not the classified documents probe. At the time, Palmer Report loudly attempted to remind the public about the classified documents probe.

When a DOJ criminal probe is several months into the grand jury stage, a search and seizure warrant of the target’s home is the expected inevitable outcome, not some shocking thing that no one could have seen coming.

Months ago Palmer Report predicted that once the DOJ’s ongoing Trump probe became so obvious to the public that the media could no longer chase ratings by pretending it didn’t exist, the media would claim no one could have seen such a thing coming. Sure enough, that’s exactly what happened.

Please keep this in mind the next time Palmer Report appears to be “out on a limb” with an obvious and well-supported take that you’re only questioning because the mainstream media is unanimously pushing some other ratings-driven, thoroughly unsupported, easily disproven narrative instead.
