“We are not going back”

Vice President Kamala Harris has only been in the 2024 presidential race for a few days, but it already feels like a groundswell movement with the momentum of a freight train. I’ve seen the massive donation numbers. I’ve seen the even more massive volunteer signup numbers and voter registration numbers. And I’ve seen the palpable excitement within the political corners of social media. But sometimes it has to hit closer to home.

I’m now hearing from old friends who say they were afraid we’d lose in 2024 but now think we’ll win. I’m seeing relatives on social media eagerly embracing not only Kamala’s candidacy, but her “We are not going back” slogan. These are people who were going to vote Democratic in 2024 anyway. But now they’re excited. And that matters, because while they can only vote once, their enthusiasm ends up being contagious. It convinces people outside the base, who weren’t sure whether to bother to vote Democrat or just lazily stay home, to go ahead and get excited about voting Democrat.

As I said the other day, it’s a matter of time – whether it’s a week or a month – before the media feels that it’s milked the “Kamala has momentum, Trump in trouble” narrative for all that ratings that it’s worth, and decides to test the waters on pretending that Kamala is in trouble. Sooner or later, it’s coming. But with all the massive momentum that the Kamala candidacy is garnering out of the gate, we’re going to be prepared to fend off whatever villainy the media has coming.

I’m excited. Right up until the end, I still felt that we could win with President Biden as our 2024 candidate. But it felt like we were going to have to drag America across the finish line. Now it’s as if America suddenly wants to come with us. Democratic base turnout is going to be through the roof. And we have the potential to drive huge non-base turnout as well. So let’s keep ramping up the momentum and driving voter registration. As our future President Kamala Harris said, we are not going back. Donate $20 to Palmer report via GoFundMe
