“We are losing” – Donald Trump finally admits it
When a candidate falls behind in an election, one obvious strategy is to admit to having fallen behind, and try to use it as a rallying cry to motivate the base to work harder. Then there’s Donald Trump, who has responded to falling behind Kamala Harris by claiming he’s further ahead than ever, then going back to rambling about sharks and serial killers.
But now something has changed. Late on Friday night Donald Trump shared a social media post which quotes a CNN story in which an unnamed Trump ally said “Wake the f**k up … we are losing.”
This is odd to say the least. In nearly a decade of campaigning, Donald Trump has never at any point admitted that he was behind in any election he’s run in. When he’s behind in the polls, he either cites questionable right wing polls, or he claims that the polls are rigged.
Even if Donald Trump is shifting strategies and is finally admitting that he’s losing in an effort to rally his base, why would he do so by quoting an unnamed Trump ally? This is bizarre. As Trump further falls apart and loses his cognitive abilities, the things he posts on social media are likely to get more and more surreal. Meanwhile our job is to work hard and run up the score.
