Donald Trump wants out
When Donald Trump told his rally crowd last night that he wanted to take one of their pickup trucks and flee the scene, while whining about how he used to have “such a good life,” it was the second time in the past week that he’d mused about fleeing. It’s a dead giveaway that Trump doesn’t want to be doing this. He doesn’t want reelection. He doesn’t want to be president. He wants out.
It’s the latest reminder that Trump, who never wanted the job and clearly isn’t enjoying himself, is only running for reelection for two reasons. If he’s no longer in office, he fears that 1) he’ll be put in prison for his various crimes, and 2) his financial house of cards will collapse. It’s why he’s so ambivalent about campaigning, even when he’s doing it, as if he’s going through the motions.
Donald Trump knows he needs to win, but he seems to have mixed feelings about it, as if losing might come as a relief to him – even though it would mean his certain ruin. So even as Trump sabotages himself by giving a half hearted effort, we can take advantage of it by putting 100% of our effort into voter turnout during this final week.
