Donald Trump just walked out of his own disastrous press conference

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Donald Trump tried a number of different approaches during his press conference today. He stumbled his way through a prepared script that was aimed at giving the false appearance that he cares about black people. He tried a number of sarcastic jokes, which landed with a thud, given the circumstances. Then he just left, leaving Mike Pence holding the bag.

Trump’s exit wasn’t a particularly dramatic one. But it’s not difficult to figure out why he bailed early on this one. When he started getting hit with questions, his deflections went rather poorly. He ended up making the incredible claim that he doesn’t even know his own handpicked Acting Navy Secretary, who resigned in disgrace today.

Trump also claimed he never saw the memo that his own close adviser Peter Navarro wrote to him months ago about the coronavirus threat, even though Navarro leaked the memos to the media last night in an attempt at covering his own backside.

Today represented some of the weakest, most half-witted deflection we’ve seen from Donald Trump to date. The guy sounds more and more out of it each day he holds one of these press conferences. Today he was completely in over his head. No wonder he bailed early.
