Vladimir Putin’s big miscalculation

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

I want to speak about Putin’s serious miscalculation. There are so many people trying to step into the mind of Putin to figure out the reasons and motivations for his deadly actions. Many have theories. Some say this is a natural progression because Putin has always been obsessed with Ukraine and also long coveted them.

Others say he’s obsessed with NATO, and it is this obsession that is motivating him. Others say he has finally lost his mind and gone insane. I could get behind that theory But the reality is Putin is and has always been a threat.

He is that way because he’ evil and he has delusions of Grandeur. He’s a man who is sociopathic in nature and is willing to do anything and everything to obtain what he wants.

His threats are becoming more and more deranged. Putin is now threatening Finland and Sweden. He has issued a blood-curdling warning that if either country attempts to join NATO, they will face “serious military and political repercussions.” “Detrimental consequences” is what the Russian foreign ministry said.

It is Finland who came up with the term “Molotov cocktail.” And right now, many in Ukraine are making these weapons to be used in the fight against Russia. All these threats will do is encourage Finland and Sweden. They are not exactly shrinking violets. Fear of Putin is not present. On the contrary, in the fight for their lives, Ukraine’s are putting up fierce resistance. Their courage is beautiful to see.

I see very little fear myself. But the most fear that I do see is from Putin himself. And now we come to Putin’s very real miscalculation. Most rage is born of fear. If one looks at the anarchy of anger — red-hot anger — this anger can almost always be traced back to fear.

In reality, it is Putin who is afraid. He tries to hide that fear with belligerence and evil deeds. He didn’t know he’d be met with such resistance. So no matter what his motivations were and are, he miscalculated badly. And as the days go by and he becomes increasingly isolated, his fear will only worsen.
