Vivek Ramaswamy’s 2024 campaign is dead

Vivek Ramaswamy is already pulling the plug on TV ad campaigns in key 2024 Republican primary states like Iowa and New Hampshire, a sign that his never-serious-to-begin-with campaign for president is now in its dying stages. But now it turns out Ramaswamy’s campaign involves actual dead people.

Election officials in Rhode Island have found that Ramaswamy’s official filings include a huge number of illegitimate signatures, including those of a lot of people who are – how can we put this – dead.

How does this kind of thing happen? It’s often the result of candidates not wanting to bother getting the required number of legitimate signatures to get onto the ballot, and instead just plugging in names and such. We’ll see what the story ends up being here.

It’s worth noting that in 2022, a number of candidates for Governor of Michigan were disqualified for faking the signatures needed for the ballot. But disqualification in Rhode Island would be the least of Vivek Ramaswamy’s worries. If no one is voting for him to begin with, does it really matter? The dead people “supporting” Vivek’s campaign are simply the perfect metaphor for how dead his candidacy is.
