Last night the New York Times broke a story that was startling even in these disturbing times: during a pro-Trump event, a Trump resort aired a video depicting Donald Trump assaulting and murdering members of the media and Democratic Party leaders. Suffice it to say that the backlash is fully underway.

To be clear, there no evidence (yet) that Donald Trump was behind the video or knew it was aired at his property. Several of Trump’s allies spoke at the event, but they’re also claiming they had nothing to do with the video. That said, it’s clear that someone working for Trump thought this video was just fine, and that no one else running the event seemed to have a problem with it either.

The video features Donald Trump’s face placed over Colin Firth’s character during the infamous church scene in the movie Kingsman: The Secret Service. In that video, Firth’s character was taking out a bunch of evil bad guys. But in the Trump video, Donald Trump is seen breaking Barack Obama’s neck, setting Bernie Sanders’ head on fire, shooting Rachel Maddow, stabbing Rosie O’Donnell in the head, and other graphically disgusting acts of violence.

The sheer horrifying nature of the video emanating from a pro-Trump event at a Trump property – which Donald Trump has yet to address or denounce – has led #TrumpVideo to trend on social media all morning, as everyone piles on with condemnation. The disturbing part is that this violent new video doesn’t go all that much further than some of the violent memes that Trump has tweeted over the past few years.
