Unraveling Donald Trump can’t even figure out which side is which

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Donald Trump continues to publicly display his stupidity. During the 2020 campaign, he shot himself in the foot by claiming mail-in voting would be overtaken by fraud, which caused his own voters to stay away from it. Democratic voters used it wherever possible, giving Joe Biden the victory. Now, CNN has reported that Trump has changed his narrative, telling people at the Conservative Political Action Conference that it’s “time to change our thinking” when it comes to early and mail-in voting. Guess he saw that it worked for Joe Biden. He may not have the same outcome, as many of his followers still believe his voting fraud lies.

According to CNN, Trump used his social network to proclaim: “YOU CAN NEVER HAVE FAIR & FREE ELECTIONS WITH MAIL-IN BALLOTS – NEVER, NEVER, NEVER.” So, what has changed? Could the fact that he lost have something to do with it? The GOP knows that this rhetoric hurt them in the midterms. Of course, some of us have other ideas-like how Republicans do nothing for the people or how most of them seem slightly unhinged. But Republicans think they’re smart, so they have latched onto this latest proclamation from their party’s leader to change gears. Heaven forbid they admit that they were all wrong. Anyone running for office should know that the best way to get their voters out is to encourage them to vote by all available means, not attempt to elevate one method over the other. It makes no sense. Republicans are now trying to find the Democratic secret to help their own cause. They could help their cause more if they acted, even a little, like they care about what the people want.

Republicans are hell-bent on changing the narrative around early and mail-in voting. Andy Reilly, a Republican National Committee member from Pennsylvania, told CNN: “Any party that votes for 50 days is going to beat the party that voted for 13 hours.” Well, duh. We’ve always known this. What took them so long? Ronna McDaniel, RNC Chair, told Fox news last year: “What we do need is our voters need to vote early. I have said this over and over again.” Apparently, she didn’t say it loudly enough, as their voters decided to listen to an idiot and stay home until election day. Trump has not changed that much, even after his allies implored him to tone down the rhetoric. According to Trump, the Republicans’ poor showing in the midterm elections had nothing to do with him. It had everything to do with him. Those who wanted to escape Trumpism turned up and showed out, keeping the Senate majority in the hands of Democrats, and giving Republicans an extremely narrow margin in the House. They even now support “ballot harvesting,” something they were dead set against and used to claim fraud in the 2020 election.

Republicans are flip-flopping idiots, and the only way they are staying in office is that their voters must be even bigger idiots. Surely, they see how Republicans change with the wind, demonstrating, once again, that they have no platform and no plans.
