Unintended consequences
When the extreme court overturned Roe, they unleashed a lion. In the time since, many women have suffered pain having to carry dead embryos to full term; some women have died. The ramifications of Roe being overturned will echo for many years. But something ELSE is happening now, unintended consequence perhaps. Only you see, unintended consequences are rarely benign. They often lead to horror.
Something is happening in the state of Texas. “Newborns are being abandoned,” The data shows there has been a significant uptick in infants left abandoned, many in dumpsters. And it’s thought that this abortion ban — is the reason why.
In Texas, it is now nearly impossible for a woman to obtain an abortion. Texas, along with many other red states, has made it so. As a result of this ban, people are leaving their infants, abandoning them for likely many reasons, not just the abortion ban.
One reason may be the crackdown on immigration in Texas. This has left many women terrified of seeking medical care due to fears of being deported. This has now become commonplace. However, Republicans, who earnestly spend hours talking about how babies matter SO very much, do not appear to care that this is happening.
A Texas law enforcement official called this “a little bit of an epidemic.” Now — if republicans REALLY gave two shits about the babies they spend days, weeks, and years talking about, wouldn’t one think they’d be moving swiftly to HELP these children? But they’re not. Republicans in Texas are doing nothing, and the tragedy goes on and on and on as Republicans try to think up new ways of punishing women for simply BEING women.
Pro-life? Pro-life? No, my friends, what we have heard is pro-DEATH. For that is what is happening to these beautiful babies. That is happening, and there is a direct causation between the overthrowing of Roe and the abandonment of these precious children. Elections have consequences.
