Unhinged Donald Trump lashes out at Fox News as it all falls apart for him
“Nobody can ever trust Fox News, and I am one of them!” This sounds like something that you’ve probably seen one of your Facebook friends post – or maybe something you posted yourself. You probably wouldn’t believe me if I were to say that a former president of the United States tweeted it.
Definitely not a former Democratic POTUS, even if that aforementioned network did a great deal of damage to the legacies of the last two Democratic presidents we had (coming into formation during the tail end of the Clinton years and becoming a massive powerhouse by the time President Obama was in the Oval Office – even if they failed in their ultimate goal of making him a one-term president.)
No – it’s that other former guy who tweeted it in yet another Truth Social meltdown for the ages, as he came after Paul Ryan (yes, that former House Speaker Paul Ryan who now serves on Fox News’ Board of Directors.) Ryan’s hardly the hero here – as he had plenty of chances to keep Donald Trump at bay and chose not to use them.
He’s simply going through the motions of pushing back on Trump now because he’s seen what a liability the former guy is to the GOP’s prospects of winning – and that’s what will always come first. The biggest tell here is that Donald Trump’s numbers aren’t nearly as good as he feels they should be – so Fox News, which he could once rely on for spin, must be at fault. For all of the loyalty the former guy demands, he offers zero in return, and will gladly burn the network down when he can’t get his way.
