Ugly new numbers for the GOP

I’ve spoken of Icarus. I’ve spoken of Zeus and Apollo and Poseidon. That’s my thing. I enjoy occasionally showing how Greek Mythology is engrained in today’s modern politics. But I must speak of Athena because Republicans could use her help about now.

Athena was the Greek Goddess of wisdom — YOU KNOW — wisdom, the thing that, it seems, has UTTERLY left the GOP. Economists are astonished because the numbers are out, and they show consumer confidence is at an all-time low.

“Worse than expected.” Much. much worse. It has been steadily dropping for FOUR months now. Gee, you tell ME—what happened four months ago? I think we all know the answer to that. Trump was elected.

“Worries about the economy.” These worries are from the American people who DO have wisdom, and whose fears are spiking upward as people voice their stunned outrage over Donald Trump’s TARIFFS.

The data is fresh. It’s just come out (Tuesday.) So, this is not some old and antiquated data we have here. People are HURTING. Yes, wisdom is in short supply these days for Republicans. How could they not KNOW this?

Are they THAT out of touch with the American people? Can’t they see what is happening in front of their very eyes? Can’t they see the anger, the despair, and the pain? No.

Consumer expectations are in the shitter, and they are not coming out. HOW are Republicans supposed to win in the midterms, which are coming up faster than the release of an insurrectionist’s mugshot?

They can’t TALK to their voters. They see their leader — the one they TREAT like a God — trying to — massively trying to destroy the economy — and they’re mute! It’s like they’ve been turned into tree stumps, just sitting there, lost and wandering souls BADLY in need of someone — anyone — to give them even a SMIDGEN of wisdom.

Of course, to get wisdom, one must be prepared to accept it. That is the whole problem. If one turns away help, in time, help simply stops coming.
