Ugly new blow for Donald Trump
What do you feel when you think of America? Can you close your eyes, and feel her beauty? Can you reach out and touch the willowy softness of her lands? I can. This is the eternal beauty of America. No matter how many blows and licks she takes, she always rises quietly to the occasion, a bird in the wind, enveloped in the sweetness of freedom.
However, Donald Trump is a clear danger to this magnificence. When Donald Trump won the 2024 race, we resigned ourselves, did we not, to the uncomfortable fact that he’d like nothing better than to tear America down? More and more people are agreeing with this. It is becoming not just a thought but a fact. Even the Wall Street Journal.
Like so many others, the Journal, once a supportive bosom buddy of Trump’s has turned against him. They showed it with an editorial calling for Donald Trump’s impeachment. This column was published late in the day on Friday. A member of their editorial board said a third impeachment must be organized because of, as this editorial board member puts it: “The damage he has done to the US. Economy with his ill-founded trade war.”
Holman W. Jenkins Jr. says it almost seems Trump wants to be impeached. He also says that although Trump achieved reelection, he has not done one positive thing for America since. The author claims that his promise of a “golden age” is leading to a potential impeachment. It is astonishing, isn’t it, the number of people who’ve turned against Mr. Trump?
I do not doubt that Donald Trump has already engaged in — I don’t know—maybe a dozen or so things that warrant impeachment. His lawlessness is his calling card, and we all see it clearly. If we win the midterms, an impeachment could perhaps take place. I believe it certainly should. What do you feel when you think of Americans? Yes, that is the way I wrote this essay.
I close my eyes and see beauty, love, and a long-whispered promise by many who fought for our great lands. “Keep America free. Protect her. Love her. Revel in her.” We are. So it seems, are many other people. Not Trump, though — never Trump. This is why I believe this impeachment is a possible reality down the road.
