Things just got particularly ugly between Donald Trump and Melania Trump

After Donald Trump viciously attacked the intelligence of LeBron James last night, while stating that he preferred Michael Jordan as a basketball player, it wasn’t particularly surprising to see Jordan release a statement this morning which sided with LeBron. But it turns out someone else is also publicly siding with LeBron over Trump, and that someone is also named Trump – at least until she divorces him.

That’s right, Melania Trump is publicly supporting LeBron James today. She released a statement through her spokesperson which said “It looks like LeBron James is working to do good things on behalf of our next generation,” in reference to LeBron’s charitable work and newly launched school. It’s not as if Melania was caught by a group of reporters, asked a question about her husband’s remarks about LeBron, and felt compelled to answer. No, this was very different. She made a point of coming out in support of LeBron, spiting Donald Trump in the process.

Of course this is far from the first time. Melania Trump went through a long stretch where she would refuse to hold his hand in public, after his affair and payoff to Stormy Daniels became public. Melania also recently wore a jacket that said “I really don’t care, do u?” while on her way to visit the immigrant children who had been kidnapped and imprisoned by her husband. Now she’s seizing the opportunity to take a public stab at Donald by making a point of siding with LeBron.

Meanwhile, Michael Jordan released this statement in support of LeBron James: “I support LeBron James. He’s doing an amazing job for his community.” LeBron’s biggest current basketball rival, Steph Curry, tweeted “Keep doing you” at LeBron. Whenever Donald Trump has tried to pick a fight with a black public figure, it’s usually turned out to have been an attempt at distracting from a bombshell he knows is about to land in the Trump-Russia scandal.
