Ugly blow for the Republican Party

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

In a stunning blow for Republicans, the Ohio Supreme Court has rejected the Ohio newly-drawn maps. The court said that the maps were not constitutional because of all the partisan gerrymandering done by the GOP.

Here is some of what the court had to say: “All parties agreed that in statewide partisan elections over the past decade, Republican candidates had won 54 percent of the vote share and Democratic candidates had won 46 percent of the vote share.”

And now, a new map must be formed. And it must happen in 10 days. This Ohio map, had it been allowed to stand, could have given Republicans a 12-3 advantage, which I am sure is precisely WHY they drew the maps in that way. One Justice, Michael Donnelly, had this to say in his opinion: “When the dealer stacks the deck in advance, the house usually wins.”

Indeed they do. This is why the “dealers” — our non-friends in the GOP — wanted the maps to look this way. They wanted to cheat. It didn’t work.

These dealers can win only through cheating, so why not screw up the Ohio maps enough, so the democrats have no chance? Only now the deck is no longer stacked. And the gamblers must be frantic. The court is also retaining jurisdiction over the maps. It is pretty evident that the GOP has no choice on this one, but to play by the rules — if they can only remember what the rules are.
