Brett Kavanaugh drunkenly assaulted a guy he mistakenly thought was the lead singer from UB40. No, really.
Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh likes beer so much, he mentioned it thirty times in the span of a few hours during his Senate Judiciary Committee testimony on Thursday. Kavanaugh’s professed love of beer is so infamous, he was lampooned for it on Saturday Night Live over the weekend. Now it turns out Kavanaugh didn’t just like drinking beer – he also allegedly liked throwing beer as well.
Brett Kavanaugh’s former college drinking buddy is now calling him out for not only having been a heavy drinker, but also a violent drinker. Chad Ludington, who is now a college professor, has told Bloomberg the story of one of Kavanaugh’s drunken incidents. He says that the two of them went to a UB40 concert along with some other friends, including Chris Dudley, who went on to play in the NBA. After the show, Kavanaugh spotted a random guy in a bar, and mistakenly thought the guy was the lead singer from UB40. The man told them to back off, so Kavanaugh threw a beer in the guy’s face. This resulted in a brawl, and the police ended up questioning everyone involved. In addition to being a surreal story, it’s also a big problem for Kavanaugh.
For starters, it paints Brett Kavanaugh as a violent out of control drunk who lacks self control while intoxicated, which is in line with the allegations that he drunkenly sexually assaulted multiple women in high school and college, thus giving added legal credibility to the women’s claims. In addition, the existence of a police report related to the incident will make it easier to substantiate that Kavanaugh really did assault the guy. It also exposes Kavanaugh as having flat out lied to the Senate about his drinking habits while under oath.
Ludington told the New York Times that he’s taking his accusations to the FBI today, and this comes just as Jeff Flake has forced Donald Trump to remove the restrictions he had secretly placed on which people the FBI could interview. Flake said over the weekend that if the FBI probe determines that Brett Kavanaugh lied to the Senate, then as far as he’s concerned, the nomination is dead.
