My take on Donald Trump’s criminal trial today is that Jeff McConney’s testimony was quite bad for Trump, but not as devastating as what we’ve already seen from the likes of David Pecker and Hope Hicks. To me it felt like prosecutors were using McConney to seal off potential cracks of reasonable doubt.

Of course this isn’t the kind of criminal case that relies on one smoking gun or one inside witness. It’s the kind of comprehensive criminal case which has numerous key witnesses corroborating each other and piling on. So while there’s room for debate about which witnesses have been the most harmful to Trump, in the big picture they’re adding up to a devastating case against him.
