Dear Palmer Report readers,
We all understand what a dark era we're heading into. Journalists will be prosecuted. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. Advertising networks can't be counted on. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight, because someone has to.
In that regard we're looking to start funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens or how dark things get. We've launched a reader supported fund, and we've already raised $3360 and counting. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can contribute here. Thank you in advance.
Sincerely,
Bill Palmer

Donald Trump has been having a rough go of it today, to say the least. The stock market is crashing overnight. Republican Senator Ted Cruz and Republican Congressman Paul Gosar have announced they’re self-isolating because they’ve been exposed to the coronavirus. Now Trump is getting bad news about the one thing he seems to still enjoy in life: trolling people on Twitter.
Twitter’s long-promised policy of slapping warning labels on Donald Trump’s false and abusive tweets finally went into effect this week. Sure enough, Trump has already violated the policy. Yesterday Trump’s social media handler Dan Scavino tweeted a dishonestly edited video which was aimed at tricking people into thinking that Joe Biden had endorsed Trump for president. Trump then retweeted the video. As of this evening, Trump’s retweet now has a “manipulated media” warning on it:
Some observers may feel that Twitter should be deleting tweets like this altogether. But we kind of like the idea that the warning label – which can be clicked on for further information – just might educate some of Donald Trump’s cult members about the fact that he’s a pathological liar. Now, how long before Trump starts rage-tweeting about how Twitter is conspiring against him?
