Twitter bans new Donald Trump-based account

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Yesterday Donald Trump โ€“ banned from Twitter for life โ€“ launched a rickety blog in an attempt at getting his de facto tweets out there publicly. Of course this didn’t help him much, because no one on Twitter is going to know when he’s posted something new to go look at.

Today a new Twitter account launched called @DJTdesk whose sole purpose was to post links to Trump’s “tweets” on his new blog. It wasn’t entirely clear whether this account was set up by Trump and his team, or if it was merely set up independently by a Trump fan. But either way, the account was in violation of the spirit of Twitter rules, because it was only there to steer people to Trump’s “tweets” on his blog โ€“ and he’s banned from tweeting.

After a number of activists petitioned Twitter to do something about the account, Twitter went ahead and banned it today. We know the ban is permanent because it now says “Account suspended” on the page, which by definition means a permanent ban. And so another Donald Trump-based Twitter account has fittingly bit the dust.
