Turns out there’s a plan for putting Donald Trump in prison
I’ve been pointing out for quite some time that one way or another, Donald Trump was going to end up in prison in the end. This has been met with a lot of skepticism and pushback, even from folks who want him to go to prison. One of the most common retorts has been that Trump can’t possibly go to prison because of his Secret Service detail. I’ve always found this notion frankly nonsensical, because the agents could obviously just sit outside his prison cell. Now it turns out the Secret Service sees it the same way.
The Secret Service has tipped off the New York Times that it does indeed have a plan for how to guard Trump if he goes to prison. They’ll simply be outside his cell, just like I said. This was never going to be an issue. But the real story here is that the Secret Service has now decided that it’s time to inform the public about the fact that, no, they’re not going to somehow try to prevent Trump from being locked up.
Of course the New York Times is still claiming it’s “unlikely” that Trump will be locked up, because the media is still a million miles away from wanting to admit that Trump is actually going to prison. If they admit that, they’ll no longer be able to milk the “Trump is going to get away with it all” narratives for ratings and page views.
But I mean, come on. We’re now at the point where even the Secret Service is talking about Trump going to prison. Trump is literally on criminal trial right now. And if the lower level Class-E felonies in this trial don’t send him to prison, the more serious felonies he’ll face in his next trial this summer will send him to prison.
For all we know, Trump might end up being the Republican nominee for President in November while sitting in prison. As I’ve long said, with this many moving parts and timeframes, it’s difficult to predict precisely what we’re going to be looking at – which is why we have to start putting in the work now to help make sure Biden wins, no matter what’s happening on the other side. But Trump is going to prison. The legal system has him on trial. The Secret Service has a plan for when it happens. Everyone seems to be on the same page about Trump being bound for prison, except the media.
