Turns out Ron DeSantis is even more of a corrupt, vindictive and self defeating idiot than we thought
Whenever a corrupt Republican politician does something particularly corrupt, there’s a tendency to presume that it’s part of some kind of secret evil genius plan to get reelected and get away with it all. The thing is, when the politician is a dimwitted idiot like Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, the corrupt move is often merely just stupid and self defeating.
Everyone knows that when DeSantis runs for reelection in Florida next year, he’ll do the most poorly in the state’s three biggest counties, Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach. It’s simple voting demographics. We already saw DeSantis try to do his COVID vaccine rollout to favor the redder counties, while punishing those three big counties for not having voted for him.
Now DeSantis is using the same corrupt and vindictive approach when it comes to allocating new sewer projects in Florida:

The three big counties who don’t like DeSantis very much appear to be left out of the allocation entirely. This is certainly shameful and corrupt. But it’s also idiotic. This isn’t somehow magically going to get DeSantis more votes in 2022. If anything, it’ll merely motivate more voters in the three big counties to mobilize against him. And he also risks alienating moderate voters in those three counties as well. It’s the latest reminder that DeSantis is an idiot, and he’s beatable in 2022 if we put in the work required to beat him.
