Turns out Donald Trump (literally) has nothing

In Donald Trump’s civil trials, and in the buildup to his criminal trials, we keep seeing that he’s got nothing. His attorneys aren’t mounting viable defenses that could help him win. Instead they’re mounting gibberish cases that are aimed solely at playing into a senile Trump’s delusions. After all, there’s nothing they can do to help him, so they might as well just keep him happy.

When I say that Trump and his team have “nothing” in his various cases, I mean that in the figurative sense of course. They have a case, it’s just worthless and doesn’t add up to anything. But in Trump’s classified documents trial, it turns out he has literally nothing. Jack Smith says that Trump and his legal team haven’t filed a single document in discovery in the case.

Someone somewhere is going to claim that this is part of Trump’s secret evil genius plan to magically get off the hook. But it doesn’t work that way. When you put on a case at trial, for the most part it can only be based on what you’ve made available in discovery. By filing nothing, Trump is setting himself up to not be able to put on a defense at all. He’s just screwing himself.

Again, each time Trump and his legal team do something inept and stupid and delusional like this, we have to hear about how it’s all part of Trump’s secret plan. But then it never works out that way for him. He got his butt kicked in the E. Jean Carroll trial. He got his butt kicked in the New York civil fraud trial. And he’s setting himself up to get his butt kicked in his criminal trials as well. There is no plan here. It’s just a fading Trump being delusional about what’s happening to him.
