Tucker Carlson is going to get someone killed
I often wonder about Icarus. I wonder if he had regrets. What was he thinking as he hovered in the skies, delicate wings melting rapidly? Did he have time to ponder his fate? Did he feel regret — sadness? Did he realize his hubris had led him astray?
And as he fell, did he realize that arrogance had paved the way to his making that fateful decision to fly close to the sun? Did he recognize the golden sun he adored so much had not been able to stop his demise?
I wonder the same about Republicans. Do they realize their international fall from grace has been caused by their own corrupt ways? Do they have regret? I think perhaps a few do. But for most, I doubt they have the self-awareness to look inward. All they see is the tantalizing lure of power. Case in point: Tucker Carlson.
I do not believe Tucker has a conscience. He does not seem to care what anyone thinks of him. His show is widely watched and is making him money. At heart, he is a selfish little man whose heart has been taken by greed. And hubris. Nobody knows that better than Rep. Eric Swalwell.
This week, Rep. Swalwell shared with people a voicemail left for him by a deranged Carlson fan. In this voicemail, both Swalwell and his family are threatened. This person called Swalwell vile racist names and made violent and insane threats.
And he said in the voicemail he’d just watched Carlson’s show. Do I think Carlson really cares? No. But we do. And I know the frustrations of the readers that Carlson has not yet been canceled.
I want him to be. But to the soulless higher-ups at Fox, Tucker is big bucks. He generates revenue. Nothing short of millions protesting will get this cretin canceled. I am hopeful, though, that more and more people will speak out. My heart goes out to Rep. Swalwell.
