Trumpublican National Committee

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

The RNC should just change its name to TNC: the Trump National Committee. Trump dictates everything they do, right or wrong, and most of it is wrong. Last week, the group voted to censure Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger for their work on the House Select Committee. They have done nothing wrong other than join the search for the truth of what happened leading up to and on January 6. The RNC has it all wrong, but in their zeal to kowtow to Donald Trump, they could care less about right and wrong. Indeed, anyone who bows to Trump cares nothing about right.

The resolution presented by the RNC was ridiculous. They alleged that Cheney and Kinzinger have participated in the “persecution of ordinary citizens engaged in legitimate political discourse.” What a crock. Peaceful demonstrations have always been considered a show of legitimate political discourse. Ransacking the nation’s Capitol is not. It was violent, out of control, and completely uncalled for. Trump lost a free and fair election, and there was absolutely nothing to be protested about that loss. Those people bought into the lie Trump was selling, and they turned it into the most violent attack on our nation in modern times. “Legitimate political discourse” my ass. As the Hill reported, H.R. McMaster agrees.

McMaster, former national security adviser under Trump, was interviewed on “Face the Nation” where he displayed his disdain for the RNC’s actions. He called January 6 “illegitimate political discourse” and further called the event an “assault on the first branch of government.” McMaster obviously does not agree with any of the nonsense about overturning the election. He reiterated that Mike Pence had no right or power to overturn the 2020 election. Even Mike Pence disagreed with Trump’s nonsense, saying: “President Trump is wrong. I had no right to overturn the election. The presidency belongs to the American people and the American people alone.” McMaster commented on Pence’s declaration, telling the host: “All Americans should agree with Vice President Pence,” and he believes that we should “demand more from our political leaders” by insisting they stop trying to undermine confidence in elections. They need to stop these lies and get back to what they were elected to do: Serve the people.

Mitt Romney, who is RNC Chairperson Ronna McDaniel’s uncle, texted with his niece the Hill reported. While he would not disclose the contents of those text messages, he said that the RNC’s message “could not have been more inappropriate.” Romney was one of 7 Republicans who voted to impeach Trump following the insurrection. It is too bad that his colleagues refuse to listen.

The lies perpetrated by the RNC and Trump enablers continue to drive a wedge in our country. They do nothing toward furthering the goals of returning America to its rightful place as one of the best countries in the world. Instead, they set a bad example for democracy everywhere. People used to look to America for democratic ideals, but this group of Republicans is making that impossible.
