Trump’s indicted GOP Congressman pal Duncan Hunter has a whole new problem

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

As Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Trump-Russia treason gets closer to Donald Trump’s inner circle, Trump’s unhinged and desperate behavior has become more pronounced. As Palmer Report has documented, this increased anxiety and frustration has resulted in even more late night Twitter meltdowns. His outbursts have reached a level where he’s committing felony obstruction of justice with his tweets.

On Labor Day, Trump sent a tweet disparaging his Attorney General Jeff Sessions for allowing criminal investigations into two Congressmen, arguing that because they are Republicans, the indictments may hinder GOP holding power in the House. CNN legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin called out Trump’s tweet, saying “This tweet alone may be an impeachable offense. This is such a disgrace. This is so contrary to the traditions of the Department of Justice.”

Trump’s deranged tweet was in reference to two of his first supporters in Congress, Representatives Chris Collins and Duncan Hunter, who were recently indicted for insider trading and illegal use of campaign funds, respectively. While Collins has since decided to suspend his reelection campaign, Hunter instead doubled down while throwing his wife under the bus and blaming her for his crimes. It appears things just got even worse for Hunter.

Gregory Vega seems to be about as good an attorney for Duncan Hunter as Rudy Giuliani has been for Trump, committing unforced errors that hurt their client’s cases. In a letter to the Justice Department, Vega wrote “The supposed reason given for including these details is that they reflect spending of campaign funds for extramarital infidelities and excessive drinking.”

In an apparent effort to explain why Hunter misused funds, Vega exposed his client Hunter as being a drunken womanizer. While Hunter previously made the outrageous claim that the $174,000 annual salary for members of Congress is not enough to make ends meet, and reportedly overdrew his bank account numerous times over the past seven years, it makes more sense now knowing that he was paying for at least five women who were not his wife. With the midterms just two months away, I am sure those living in California’s 50th district will be seeing many campaign ads about all of Hunter’s malfeasance from his Democratic challenger, Ammar Campa-Najjar.
