Trump stooge Ron DeSantis goes completely off the rails

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Some Republican Governors have been handling the coronavirus pandemic competently, such as the Governors of Vermont and Massachusetts. Other Republican Governors are just now finally and belatedly taking responsible action, such as the Governors of Utah and North Dakota. Then there is Florida’s Republican Governor Ron DeSantis, who still seems intent on being as negligent as possible.

To give you an idea of just how thoroughly Ron DeSantis is screwing things up, the Florida Times-Union newspaper recently referred to him as the “Mad King DeSantis.” It’s not just that DeSantis is making a point of letting the coronavirus spread unchecked. He’s also doing things like hiring an “obscure Ohio sports blogger and COVID-19 conspiracy theorist to count beans in the state’s office of policy and budget.” DeSantis is also trying to make it easier for people to legally get away with ramming crowds with their cars. No, really.

Even from a villain standpoint, none of this makes much sense. That’s because DeSantis is almost uniquely in over his head. While Donald Trump’s endorsements over the past four years usually haven’t helped Republican candidates much, DeSantis is the rare exception. Trump’s endorsement of DeSantis led him to win the Republican nomination for Governor over some less-crazy Republicans. Floridians then inexplicably elected DeSantis as Governor, even after he made a complete fool of himself throughout the 2018 general election.

Now that Trump has been defeated, Ron DeSantis still seems to be trying to carry out some form of Trumpism, except DeSantis doesn’t appear to be competent enough to even understand any of it. This is like watching a talentless painter trying to copycat the world’s worst painting, and creating an even worse version. No wonder DeSantis has an underwater approval rating. The guy seemingly can’t possibly get himself reelected in 2022 if he remains on this track – and yet it’s the only track he knows. Political activists who have finally taken Trump down should consider working to take DeSantis down in 2022 as well. Trumpism needs to end across the board.
