Donald Trump and Rudy Giuliani have a whole new problem
The thing about a secret conspiracy is it only works if it remains under wraps until it’s achieved its goal. When it comes to the Trump-Giuliani conspiracy to invent a phony scandal involving Ukraine and the Bidens, the whole thing has unraveled remarkably quickly. Now a whole new detail has surfaced, and it’s becoming clear that this conspiracy was never ready for prime time.
Rudy Giuliani now admits that he was on the payroll of a company run by Lev Parnas, who in turn was an employee of imprisoned Kremlin oligarch Dmitry Firtash. It’s also recently been reported that attorneys Joe diGenova and Victoria Toensing were also working for Firtash. This is where things start to get problematic for Donald Trump, because months ago it was briefly announced that diGenova and Toensing were going to be his attorneys. Now it turns out the duo also has another client.
One of the key components of the Trump-Giuliani Ukraine scandal involved having a guy named John Solomon use his position at The Hill to push the fake Biden scandal (he’s since departed The Hill). Now Politico is reporting that Solomon was also represented by diGenova and Toensing. This raises questions about whether attorney-client privilege among any of these people is going to stand up in court.
In general, you can tell your lawyer about crimes you’ve committed, and that remains confidential. But if you and your lawyer start plotting crimes together, attorney-client privilege automatically goes out the window. Donald Trump’s attorney-client privilege with Rudy Giuliani was already in danger of being thrown out once Giuliani is charged and arrested for his role in their Ukraine scandal. Now it appears the whole lot of them could lose attorney-client privilege, which would create problems for everyone involved.
