Trump reveals how much he expects to lose by

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

I’m writing this in the wee hours of the morning of the New Year, reflecting on a contrast. While President Joe Biden rang in 2024 with words of praise, wisdom, hope and progress, Donald Trump “celebrated,” if that’s the word, with ravings of paranoia, hate, delusion and false accusations.

It is a study in contrasts between two men. Joe Biden is kind and appropriate and forgiving and large of spirit. Donald Trump is petty, inadequate, vengeful and hateful. Biden represents the angels of our better nature, Trump represents the baser instincts of the worst among us.

It’s like the difference between the Good Guy and the Bad Guy in movies of old. Why some would choose Trump is one of life’s enduring mysteries. But those who do are in a distinct minority.

If you can count on him for anything you can count on Donald Trump to give away much in his insults, accusations and lies. Some hidden fear or projection or unintended revelation always cowers just below the surface of his every utterance. Sometimes he will accidentally tell you how frightened he is. Other times he will confess to a crime by accusing someone else of committing that very same crime. This time he is letting us know by how many votes he expects to lose this year’s presidential election. The answer is “millions and millions” of votes.

“It’s becoming more and more obvious to me why the ‘Crazed’ Democrats are allowing millions and millions of totally unvetted migrants into our once great Country,” Trump wrote on Sunday. “IT’S SO THEY CAN VOTE, VOTE, VOTE. They are signing them up at a rapid pace, without even knowing who the hell they are. It all makes sense now. Republicans better wake up and do something, before it is too late.”

So, once again Trump is falling back on a familiar strategy. This is the same strategy he used in 2016 and 2020. Back in 2016 it wasn’t enough for him to win the presidency with votes in the electoral college, he is once again creating a narrative where he can blame “unvetted migrants” for fake votes. He expects to lose by millions of these “fake votes.”

In 2020 he used this “fake votes” narrative as an excuse for losing. Either way it reveals just how much of a coward he is, how terrified he is of losing, how ready he is to grasp at any lie. Narcissist Trump cannot admit that he ever loses.

Once again Trump is hedging his bets against the expected slaughter, presupposing, of course, that he even gets the Republican nomination. In this one thing I believe he’s right. If nominated I believe Trump will lose by millions and millions of votes.

Whether he’s on the ballot or not remains another question, but if he is, he will lose. Barring circumstances so bizarre I can’t imagine what they might be, that outcome seems inevitable. In the meantime Trump will keep us entertained by reminding us every day of what a little man, a petty man, a hateful, stupid, lying, grifting and tiny man he is and always shall be. And, as ever, ladies and gentlemen, brothers and sisters, comrades and friends, stay safe.
