Donald Trump doesn’t seem to know which side is up. He has entered new territory with Kamala Harris on the Democratic ticket, and he doesn’t know how to handle her. His racist, hateful rants aren’t ruffling Harris’ feathers in the least, though he’s doing a damned fine job of ruffling those of others. Take, for example, his bad idea to appear at the convention for Black Journalists in Chicago. To put it as nicely as possible, he got his ass handed to him. The worst mistake he could have ever made, he did. He questioned Harris’ ethnicity in a room full of Black people.

Trump has no clue how to campaign and talk to people about his plans should he win. Media reported that he spent 90 minutes in Pennsylvania, denigrating Kamala Harris, and several of his followers left. But one faux pas at a time. His claim that Harris “only became a Black person” recently is pure bullshit. Harris attended one of the most well-known HBCUs in the country: Howard. Why would she do that if she didn’t consider herself Black AND Indian? Trump apparently doesn’t understand the word “biracial” even though his running mate has biracial children. What does he consider them? Trump knows Harris considers herself Black; he just likes to stir up controversy. If you’re going to try to be a racist on the sly, at least try to be smart with it; however, “smart” is not a word anyone would use to describe Donald Trump. He’s a nut, and so are his supporters.

Many Trump supporters came to the Philadelphia rally in costume, real costumes. There was an astronaut, a guy wearing a flag suit (one side stripes, the other stars), and one portraying an 1876 soldier. Perhaps this explains why they support Trump-they’re all crazy, and so is he. Meanwhile, Harris continues her work toward becoming president. She has many more important things to do than playing games with a lunatic, including choosing her running mate. CNBC seemed to drop some hints about that late Thursday.

It struck me as rather interesting that she was planning to make the announcement in Philadelphia before her rally. Then, CNBC reported that Josh Shapiro has canceled a trip to the Hamptons for two events. One of those events was a “meet and greet” with wealthy donors, and his spokesperson Manuel Bonder said the trip has been planned “for several weeks.” Coincidence? We’ll find out on Tuesday.

CNBC also reported that Shapiro has “emerged as a favorite” among some of Harris’ advisors. He’s a moderate Democrat, and he’s willing to find common ground with Republicans. He might well be the best choice for her. Either way, Harris is putting her platform front and center. Her focus is squarely on middle and lower-class Americans and how she plans to improve their lives. That’s what people want to hear, not a bunch of crazy, meandering talk. Trump is stumped by how to deal with Harris, and it will likely go that way for the remainder of this campaign. Harris really doesn’t have to work hard to make Trump look bad. He does a great job of that himself. Donate $5
