It seems like forever ago when Donald Trump embarrassed himself in spectacular fashion, at an event for the National Association of Black Journalists – but it was just over a month ago where he uncorked a barrage of racist remarks and freely insulted the sponsors of the event. A number of you who watched and were appalled by it probably couldn’t have imagined that the former guy’s antics would only get worse and more reckless as the election dragged on, but here we are – with Trump and Vance both inciting violence across the country with made up racist rumors and refusing to be held accountable.

On Tuesday, Kamala Harris appeared before the same association and the Q&A event couldn’t have been more different – giving us one of the starkest contrasts between the two presidential candidates – particularly in their visions of the future. Vice President Harris knocked it out of the park with her answers – rebuking the Trump campaign for the damage their story has done to Springfield, Ohio, but also emphasizing that the former guy is the former guy for a reason.

Addressing the panel, Harris made it clear that Trump is well past his prime: “Most people in our country, regardless of their race, are starting to see through this nonsense and say, you know what, let’s turn the page on this. This is exhausting, and it’s harmful and hateful, grounded in some age-old stuff that we should not have tolerance for. So let’s turn the page, chart a new way forward, and say, you can’t have that microphone again.”

By saying we’re not going back, we’re finally turning the page on the angry, divisive politics of grievance that are the only thing Donald Trump and his lackeys have ever had to offer. Let’s put in the work for these final 50 days and get Kamala Harris elected president on Nov 5 with a Democratic trifecta.
