Trump supporter takes down Trump flag after military scandal
Donald Trump was already losing the election to Joe Biden overall, and narrowly losing the military vote to Biden as well, before the revelation that he referred to fallen U.S. soldiers as “losers” and “suckers.” Even as we wait for solid polling data to see what kind of impact the scandal is or isn’t having on voters, some anecdotal evidence suggests this could indeed cost Trump a few votes.
Take, for instance, this tweet today from @RealHeatherK: “Y’all. There is a house I pass every single day. It has a flagpole in the yard w/an American flag & trump flag. Today the trump flag is gone & a POW/MIA flag is up.” She later posted a photo as proof.
Of course it’s always tricky to take anecdotal data and predict how commonplace it’ll end up being. But the point is this: Donald Trump is already behind in this election, meaning he can’t afford to lose any of the votes he’s still counting on. If Trump is stuck playing defense, it means we have an opportunity to focus on voter registration and turnout and run up the score while he’s licking his wounds.
