Donald Trump goes bananas after House Judiciary Committee subpoenas Don McGahn

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Now that the redacted Mueller report has been released, House Democrats are taking the logical next step: they’re bringing in th key cooperators to publicly testify about the Trump campaign’s collusion and Donald Trump’s several acts of obstruction of justice. Suffice it to say that Donald Trump isn’t exactly taking the news well.

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler just subpoenaed former White House Counsel Don McGahn, who – according to the Mueller report – had a front row seat to Donald Trump’s obstruction of justice antics and repeatedly tried to put a stop to it. As explained earlier, McGahn is likely to fully cooperate, and the subpoena gives him cover when it comes to any legal attempts Trump might make at interfering with his testimony. It turns out Trump really doesn’t want people to hear what McGahn has to say.

As the subpoena news was breaking, Donald Trump posted this tweet: “Isn’t it amazing that the people who were closest to me, by far, and knew the Campaign better than anyone, were never even called to testify before Mueller. The reason is that the 18 Angry Democrats knew they would all say ‘NO COLLUSION’ and only very good things!”

Notably, Donald Trump doesn’t even bother to spell out who these people supposedly are. We’re not aware of anyone in Donald Trump’s inner circle who was hoping to be interviewed by Robert Mueller but didn’t get the opportunity. Surely those people would be speaking up right now if they existed. But this gives away the strategy that Trump is now trying out when it comes to upcoming congressional hearings.

Even as the likes of Don McGahn, Hope Hicks, and Steve Bannon are called to publicly testify before the television cameras about Donald Trump’s obstruction of justice antics, Trump is going to say something along the lines of ‘Don’t listen to my own handpicked White House Counsel, White House Communications Director, or White House Chief Strategist. The important witnesses are some other people out there who can vouch for me, even though I’m not going to tell you their names.’
