Trump cabinet member on verge of quitting already
Just how poorly are things going for the Trump regime? Trump’s Signalgate scandal has reached the point where the Department of Defense has opened an internal investigation into its own boss, Trump Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth. Trump Secretary of State Marco Rubio keeps leaking how unhappy he is. And now Trump may be about to lose a different cabinet member.
If you’ve spent the past week shaking your head in disbelief at just how stupidly Trump is wrecking the US economy, you’re far from alone. Polling says that most Americans think Trump is blowing it. Now it turns out Trump’s own Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent appears to be leaking to the media that he’s considering quitting. NBC News is reporting as much, and these kinds of inside stories don’t make their way to the media unless someone on the inside is putting them out there – and in this instance Bessent is seemingly the only possible source.
While Trump’s first term saw him ousting cabinet members left and right as scapegoats for his various failings and scandals, we’re now graduating to Trump cabinet members quitting in disgust at what Trump is doing and making sure the public knows they’re quitting in disgust. The kicker is that even with Bessent apparently having one foot out the door, he might not even be the first cabinet member to go. At this rate it’s easy to make the argument that half a dozen Trump cabinet members could end up quitting or getting ousted before too much longer.
