Donald Trump keeps giving clues that he expects to likely be convicted in his New York criminal trial, as do most legal experts. Now one of Trump’s allies is giving away that he definitely expects Trump to be convicted.

Newsmax host Todd Starnes tweeted this while the jury was deliberating: “President Trump needs to get out of New York City RIGHT NOW! Fly back to Mar-a-Lago or another state that will provide him safe harbor.”

Wow is this ever silly. If Trump failed to show up for court tomorrow, the judge would have him hunted down and hauled in, and no one in Florida would be able to do anything about it. In fact if Trump wants to guarantee he’ll end up doing prison time, he should try fleeing.

So no, this isn’t a real thing. Starnes’ tweet nothing more than a resurgence of the hilariously absurd narrative from awhile back that Trump was somehow magically going to be able to avoid arraignment in this case by hiding out in Florida. But in the real world nothing works that way. All this does is give away that even Trump’s allies think he’s about to be convicted.
