Armed man in Donald Trump truck detained by police while stalking immigrants

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

This week a white supremacist, whose rhetoric closely mirrored that of Donald Trump, killed twenty-two people in an El Paso Walmart. Also this week, “MAGA van” bomber Cesar Sayoc was sentenced to prison, even as he claimed that Trump’s rhetoric inspired him to try to assassinate several American leaders. Now it appears yet another Trump supporter tried to carry out violence in Trump’s name – but thankfully, this time law enforcement got to him first.

A man driving a pickup truck covered with stickers supporting Donald Trump and Ted Cruz was detained today outside an immigrant shelter, after he was seen brandishing a knife. Law enforcement then found a loaded gun inside his truck. This is according to the Dallas News and reporter Matthew Keys. It’s not precisely clear what the man was planning to do, but no one approaches an immigrant shelter with a knife in hand and a gun within reach unless they’re looking to cause violent harm.

Donald Trump traveled to El Paso and Dayton yesterday, presumably to try to show leadership and bring the nation together in the wake of the mass shootings in both cities. Instead, Trump spent the entire day attacking the leaders of both regions on Twitter, turning the whole thing into an utter embarrassment, and making clear that Trump didn’t mean a word he’d said over the weekend when he claimed to stand against racism.

Now it appears yet another Donald Trump supporter has heard Trump’s violent white supremacist rhetoric loudly and clearly. Stunningly, local TV station KVIA says that the man has since been released because he didn’t commit an actual crime. This serves as a disturbing reminder that driving around with a loaded gun in your pickup truck is still legal in large chunks of the United States.
