Donald Trump knows things are going horribly wrong for him, and he’s totally losing it

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

I know I’ve sounded the alarm more than once about this over the past few days, but that’s only because he keeps giving me new reasons to sound the alarm all the more loudly. Whatever fractional semblance of rational coherence Donald Trump had to begin with, he’s parting ways with it in real time. Trump is already one of the strangest-behaving weirdos of our time, and that would be true even if he weren’t a criminal monster. But now… this is almost indescribable. It’s also a sign that he knows, on at least an instinctive level, that things are going horribly wrong for him.

Maybe Donald Trump is incoherently flipping out in mentally incompetent fashion because he knows Michael Cohen is somewhere in the process of flipping on him. Maybe it’s the impending start of the Paul Manafort trial, which is already shaping up to reveal some of Trump’s ugliest secrets. Maybe it’s the lawsuit filed by Elliott Broidy’s mistress, whom some suspect is actually Trump’s mistress. We don’t know precisely what’s causing this – but we do know we’ve never seen anything quite like this, even from him.

Take, for instance, this Saturday evening Trump tweet: “The Rigged Witch Hunt, originally headed by FBI lover boy Peter S (for one year) & now, 13 Angry Democrats, should look into the missing DNC Server, Crooked Hillary’s illegally deleted Emails, the Pakistani Fraudster, Uranium One, Podesta & so much more. It’s a Democrat Con Job!” Nevermind that not a single word of this tweet is accurate or true. We know Trump lies and makes things up. That’s just who he is. But this tweet, truthfulness aside, is little more than the incoherent rambling of a madman struggling to hang onto the slightest threads of reality.

If you think Donald Trump is merely strategically faking this mental breakdown as some kind of distraction, consider that it goes far beyond the tweets. People are still trying to parse his deranged rant about Elizabeth Warren and DNA tests, along with his stunned stare-inducing rambling about Elton John and his organ. This isn’t just your garden variety madman. He’s getting worse – far worse – in real time. The pressure is getting to him.
