All eyes are on Pennsylvania right now, because it alone would give Joe Biden enough electoral votes to be declared the winner of the election. One oddity of this election is that Fox News and the Associated Press called Arizona a long time ago, even as CNN and MSNBC haven’t, suggesting that Fox and the AP might be more inclined to call Pennsylvania sooner as well.

It turns out we’re not the only ones who have been wondering about this scenario. Jonathan Swan of Axios is now reporting that Donald Trump and his people are “very anxious right now” about the possibility that Fox News could call Pennsylvania for Biden tonight.

Our hunch is that the major news networks will all look at calling Pennsylvania for Joe Biden as soon as he takes the lead in the counting; once he takes the lead in the state, there’s no chance he’ll give it up.

It’s notable that Donald Trump seems to be obsessed in particular with the prospect of Fox News calling the election. Perhaps in his mind he expected Fox to run with his vote counting conspiracy theories and refuse to declare Biden the winner. But as Palmer Report explained coming into all of this, Fox likely doesn’t want that kind of egg on its face.
