Told you there was something off about the FBI investigation of Senator Richard Burr

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. Weeks ago, when Donald Trump’s allies started curiously demanding that Republican Senator Richard Burr resign over his insider trading scandal, Palmer Report raised red flags over it. Why just Burr? Why not the other GOP Senators caught up in the same scandal? Was Trump trying to oust Burr as Chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee? After all, Burr – for all his corruption – has always used his role to take the Trump Russia scandal seriously.

Then last night happened. We all learned that the FBI has carried out a search warrant and seized Richard Burr’s phone, meaning he’s likely on an eventual path to indictment and arrest. Palmer Report pointed out last night that everyone should watch to see if others who committed similar transgressions, such as GOP Senator Kelly Loeffler, were also being targeted. Then today happened.

Even as Loeffler’s camp confirmed that she hasn’t even so much as been contacted by the Feds, Richard Burr announced he’s immediately stepping aside as Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman. This means one of Donald Trump’s toadies will indeed take over as Chair or acting Chair.

Of course with the election less than six months away, there’s not much the Senate Intelligence Committee is going to be able to do in terms of impacting the election one way or the other. As is so often the case, Donald Trump seems intent on getting revenge after it’s too late to help him. And if there is a criminal case to be made against other GOP Senators like Loeffler, rest assured they’ll be taken down if Trump loses the election.
