We told you John Bolton was going to testify against Donald Trump
Last night the news broke that when National Security Council official Tim Morrison testifies to the House impeachment inquiry next week, he’s planning to fully vouch for State Department officer Bill Taylor’s testimony. That’ll make Morrison the second current and/or former Bolton underling to give damning testimony against Donald Trump, after Fiona Hill was the first.
This led Palmer Report to conclude this morning that John Bolton himself is going to end up giving cooperative testimony to the House impeachment inquiry. If the people loyal to Bolton are all in there dishing on Trump’s crimes, why wouldn’t Bolton do the same? Sure enough, CNN is now reporting that Bolton is in negotiations to testify. This is a big deal, for two reasons.
First, John Bolton was Donald Trump’s National Security Adviser during the Ukraine scandal. You can’t get much more high ranking than that. Bolton in Donald Trump’s innermost circle. He can testify first-hand about things that went down in the scandal.
Second, John Bolton is well known as a bloodthirsty warmonger, long embraced by the far right, and long despised by Democrats. It’s a big deal that he of all people is going to testify that he witnessed Donald Trump committing crimes against the United States. Bolton is the last person whose testimony can be spun as some kind of liberal conspiracy against Trump. Bolton is the kind of guy who wanted Trump’s presidency to succeed; he just couldn’t stomach the crimes he witnessed Trump committing.
