Today’s the day
It’s June 30th. As far as any of us on the outside can tell, today is the day. When it was reported more than a week ago that two fake electors had testified under immunity deals, it was also reported that they’d been given deadlines of June 30th to decide whether to take their deals or get indicted. Since that time we’ve seen Alex Jones’ sidekick cut a cooperation deal, and even Rudy Giuliani conduct a proffer interview, all just ahead of June 30th.
And now the big deadline has arrived. So what does it mean? If the original reporting was accurate and Jack Smith hasn’t changed his timetable, it means that every January 6th criminal target who didn’t cut a plea deal by today is getting indicted. That further means that we probably can expect those indictments to start dropping within days.
So who all is getting indicted? Donald Trump is the obvious primary target. Rudy Giuliani is supposedly still getting indicted on some charges even after cooperating. Mark Meadows is certainly getting indicted unless he really has flipped. The fake electors who refused to take immunity and testify could be in line for indictment. People like Sidney Powell, John Eastman, and Jeffrey Clark have plenty to worry about. But the reality is that beyond Trump himself, we’re only able to take educated guesses.
The bottom line is that soon, we won’t have to guess – or at least we won’t have as much to guess about. Indictments are coming, likely within days, perhaps within weeks. And then we’ll start to get answers about who all is going down. Keep in mind that it’s possible not everyone will be indicted at the same time. One thing Jack Smith keeps showing us is that he’s not showing us his full hand all at once.
