Today’s FBI raid of Oleg Deripaska is really bad news for Donald Trump
When the Feds raided Trump henchman Rudy Giuliani in May, and arrested Trump money man Tom Barrack in July, it was proof that no one in Trump world is safe. It’s clear that once Trump was ousted, the Feds began building (or rebuilding) the criminal cases that Trump had forcibly shut down. Now another such case has come to the forefront.
Today the FBI raided multiple homes associated with Russian oligarch Oleg Deripaska, who has been linked to Donald Trump in various ways for years. It’s still not clear why the Feds are pursuing Deripaska, and whether his alleged crimes are connected to Trump. But if there’s enough evidence to nail Deripaska, he’ll have to consider cutting a plea deal against the likes of Trump.
So this is bad news for Trump in the direct sense that any potential plea deal with Deripaska could lead back to him. But even if that doesn’t happen, it’s bad news for Trump in the indirect sense, because it’s now more clear than ever that the Department of Justice is actively pursuing criminal cases against Trump’s associates across the board. Whether it’s Giuliani, Victoria Toensing, Matt Gaetz, Tom Barrack, Deripaska, or another name, sooner or later one of these people is going to give up Donald Trump in a plea deal.
This also helps put to rest the complaint that Merrick Garland and his DOJ are doing “nothing” when it comes to Trump world. Instead, we’re now seeing proof that Garland’s DOJ has been pursuing criminal cases against multiple big names in Trump world. And with this many confirmed DOJ criminal cases against Trump world, everyone else in Trump world has to be worrying that they might be under unannounced federal criminal investigation as well.
