It’s been a full week since the midterm elections dealt a severe blow to Donald Trump, and six days since he responded by replacing Attorney General Jeff Sessions with a new flunky named Matthew Whitaker. This has all suggested that Special Counsel Robert Mueller would come out swinging sooner rather than later, as leverage – but perhaps not time – is on his side. Sure enough, a new report says that today could be the day.

Last night far-right conspiracy theorist Jerome Corsi announced that Robert Mueller had told him that he was just days away from being indicted. This is crucial, because Corsi is a close ally of Donald Trump’s pal Roger Stone, and Corsi is alleged to have been a participant in the Trump-Russia election conspiracy.

Now Paula Reid of CBS News is reporting this: “I’ve spoken with many sources with knowledge of the Special Counsel investigation, and we do expect new indictments to be coming as soon as today.” That’s right, today. The key word here is “indictments” – plural – which would mean it’s not just Jerome Corsi. So what are we looking at here? Corsi and Stone? If Mueller is going to drop two indictments today, wouldn’t he just come out swinging with a whole slew of them? After all, we’re past the point of incrementalism.

To be clear, this report doesn’t mean that people will be indicted today. It simply means that people will be indicted in such a swift timeframe, it could be as soon as today. So stay tuned, because by the time this day is over we’ll likely either see additional news on this front, or Trump-Russia players in handcuffs.
