To hell with the media

I’ve heard from many of you who are confused, concerned, and frankly pissed off about how the political media is now going about things. The media keeps running one unsourced story after another about how this or that prominent Democrat has supposedly turned against President Biden, even as most of the Democrats involved in these stories have refuted them.

The media is also questioning whether Biden is healthy enough to remain in the race because he has a mild case of COVID. This comes even as the media fails to ask any questions about Trump’s health after he got shot in the head, or cut by glass, or whatever actually happened to him. And of course the entire media (including MSNBC) is helping Trump and the Republicans pretend that there’s a “unity” message coming out of the Republican National Convention when in fact the opposite is happening.

All I can tell you is that I’m as pissed off as you are. I don’t know what the media thinks it’s doing. I don’t know what kind of game this is supposed to be. I’ve been criticizing and calling out the political media for nine years, but even as cynical as I’ve become, I never imagined the political media becoming this dishonestly evil.

But here’s the thing. This is July, and the election is November. The race is going to continue to unfold in unpredictable ways. For instance, a week ago, did anyone have Trump getting shot on their bingo card? A month ago, did anyone foresee the debate playing out like it did? Things can and will change, and the prevailing storylines will change accordingly.

Keep in mind that once the Democratic National Convention comes and goes, this whole “Biden will have to drop out” story will be dead. Assuming Biden decides to remain in the race, we’ll see one Democratic Party leader after another speak at the convention and give a full throated endorsement of Biden-Harris 2024, and then once the convention is over, the media will pretend like it’s some shocking twist that Biden is the nominee after all. And in the hypothetical event that Biden does decide to retire, we’ll come out gangbusters behind the Democratic nominee at that time. We’re going to fight, and we’re going to win.

In the meantime, there are really only two ways to fight back against the media’s villainy on this story. One is to ignore it and focus on more productive things, like Trump’s Project 2025 and JD Vance’s unhinged positions. The other is to take the fight directly to the media by pushing back against every false or suspicious thing they report. Remember, when an unsourced story sounds like it isn’t realistic, it usually turns out be false.

All I can promise you is that I’m going to keep fighting, all day, every day, without fear or favor. I intend to win this election. We’re going to get President Biden reelected. We’re going to win the House and Senate. We’re going to win it all, because we have more fight in us than they do. So let’s go win this. Donate to Palmer Report via PayPal or GoFundMe.
