Time for the intervention

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Out of an abundance of caution (and good common sense), the Commission on Presidential Debates announced that the next debate between “president” Donald Trump and Vice President Joe Biden will be virtual. It makes perfect sense given Biden’s age and Trump’s illness. Good. Let’s just move straight to the election.

Trump acts like an incorrigible toddler. Don’t want to play his way? Fine! He is taking his toys and going home. He can take his toy vice president with him. Trump has no good reason for refusing to participate in the town-hall style virtual debate. Joe Biden, on the other hand, has one good reason for not participating in a live debate: Donald Trump has coronavirus. Trump’s own physicians recommended a 10-day quarantine following his release from Walter Reed, but real doctors say it should be 20 days. The tenth day falls on October 15, which means Trump would be fully contagious on the night of the debate. Why on earth would Joe Biden subject himself to that environment? He seems extremely healthy for a 77-year-old, but he is 77 years old, making him vulnerable.

Besides, who would risk their life for Trump? He would not risk his for yours, mine, or certainly not for Biden’s. He has helped infect half the White House, yet he wants to spread it to everyone participating in a debate. The Intelligencer confirms that Trump remains contagious. That publication speculates that Trump does not want to do a virtual debate because the moderator can turn him off at will. Hell, they can (and should) do that in a live debate. Trump is merely having another tantrum, which appears to have worsened with his steroids.

Trump has been rage-tweeting for hours. He called Kamala Harris “a monster” yet claimed that Pence won the debate. Sure he did — just like Trump did. CNN reported that the Commission made the decision without consulting either camp, but Trump’s campaign manager blames Biden. While Biden readily (and intelligently) agreed to the format, Trump threw a hissy fit. He tweeted that he will hold a rally instead. What a great idea! He can infect even more people. Trump is sick—and not just physically but mentally.

Perhaps Don, Jr. needs to stage that intervention that was reported earlier in the week because Trump is even crazier than normal. Later on Thursday, Trump did yet another about face and said that he is willing to debate—if they push them back two weeks. What is it with him? Both candidates need to address the American people, and that can certainly be accomplished virtually better than live with Trump constantly interrupting Biden.

Bill Stepien, Trump’s coronavirus-infected campaign manager, claims that a virtual debate will favor Biden because “he can rely on a teleprompter from his basement bunker.” Stepien is an idiot, just like Trump. They are hateful, evil, and possess no redeeming qualities such as empathy, compassion, or humility. Join me in counting down the days to our freedom from these sub-human creatures: 24 to go. Early voting begins in Georgia on October 12. Guess who will be first in line?
