How Tiffany Trump got caught up in the Trump-Russia family crime spree
Donald Trump Jr is going to spend the rest of his life in prison for his direct role in his father’s treasonous plot with the Russians to alter the outcome of the election. Ivanka Trump will face trouble for her work on the Trump Organization real estate deals with convicted Russian mafia money launderer Felix Sater. Eric Trump may face legal issues with his charity. But if one of Trump’s adult kids was definitely in the clear, it was Tiffany Trump, right? Eh, not so fast.
This weekend, most of the Trump family gathered at Camp David. When they want to go on vacation, they go to one of their own properties. They only go to Camp David, a place that Donald Trump has admitted he hates, when they’re hunkering down to plot their way out of their latest criminal scandal. Just before their weekend pow-wow, we learned that Special Counsel Robert Mueller is closing in on Ivanka’s husband Jared Kushner. During the weekend, Donald Trump gave away that he knew something about Paul Manafort’s impending witness tampering bust by suddenly trying to distance himself from it on Twitter.
In other words, it’s not difficult to figure out that this Trump family get-together was an attempt at figuring out how to deal with the worsening Trump-Russia scandal. We don’t know what was discussed. But we do know that, incredibly, Tiffany Trump was there. We don’t know why she was invited. But she can’t be stupid enough to have thought that this get-together was about anything other than plotting a way around the Trump-Russia investigation.
So now comes the question of whether the Trump family’s plotting over the weekend crossed the line into obstruction of justice. We’ll find that out later. These things always leak. Back when Donald Trump plotted Don Junior’s response to the Trump Tower meeting with the Russians, that ended up leaking in great detail. One way or the other, what happened at Camp David this weekend will come into focus as the Trump family is hit with criminal charges – and Tiffany Trump is, at the least, a witness to what happened. She’s probably wishing she’d stayed home.
