Donald Trump can’t stop the tidal wave that’s crashing down on him
With so many things going wrong for Donald Trump all at once, from William Barr having backed himself into a testimony corner, to Deutsche Bank and Capital One agreeing to turn over Trump’s financial records to House Democrats, it’s been difficult to get a read on just what’s going through Trump’s deranged mind. Lately he’s come off as more petrified, and more aggressive, at the same time.
For instance, late last night Donald Trump tweeted this slop pile of nonsense: “The Coyotes and Drug Cartels are in total control of the Mexico side of the Southern Border. They have labs nearby where they make drugs to sell into the U.S. Mexico, one of the most dangerous country’s in the world, must eradicate this problem now. Also, stop the MARCH to U.S.”
We’re not even sure where to start here. For one thing, “country’s” isn’t the plural of anything. Does Trump really not know that “countries” is a word?” In the 2020 race we’ve got Pete Buttigieg, who knows eight languages, and Donald Trump, who doesn’t even know one language. That said, it does appear that Trump has finally figured out that the “coyotes” within context of the drug trade are people, and not – as his earlier tweets strongly suggested – actual coyotes.
Then Donald Trump tweeted this crap: “If the Democrats don’t give us the votes to change our weak, ineffective and dangerous Immigration Laws, we must fight hard for these votes in the 2020 Election!” Hmm. Trump and his Republican Party controlled the House and Senate for two years, but now it’s the fault of the Democrats that immigration laws aren’t to his liking?
Of course with the way things are going right now, it’s still far from clear whether Donald Trump will even make it to 2020. His most effective henchman William Barr is now panicking at the prospect of facing a hired prosecutor during his testimony this week, even as Trump’s favorite financial institutions are selling out his secrets to Congress. The House Democrats are amassing more of an impeachment war chest by the day. They’re going to use it, and if anything is left of Trump’s presidency by the time they’re done, there won’t be much of it.
