“This will grow into a giant story”

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

It’s been a day and a half since the news broke that Russia has been paying Taliban terrorists to kill U.S. soldiers, and that Donald Trump has known about it for months and decided to keep it quiet. We’ve seen relatively little advancement of the storyline since the news first broke. But it looks like that’s about to change.

After the White House Press Secretary made the laughable claim that Donald Trump and Mike Pence didn’t actually know what was going on, MSNBC host Stephanie Ruhle tweeted this: “This will grow into a GIANT STORY. Leaks and whistleblowers lining up.”

She’s correct, of course. By making such a specific and easily disproven denial, Donald Trump has rather foolishly made it easy for whistleblowers to come forward with testimony and/or documents that show Trump and Pence were in fact briefed on this matter. It appears they’ve very much backed themselves into a corner.
