This Texas debacle has gone completely off the rails

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

The Nowhere Girls is a book by Amy Reed. It is among my favorite YA books in history. In it, a group of High School girls set out to avenge the rape of a classmate. They form “The Nowhere girls.” The goal of this group is to stop any more assaults and rape.

They’re an anonymous group that wants to change school culture. And this group alters the course of the community’s history. It is a great book. But in Leander IDS, near Austin, one can no longer read this book. It is among a very long list of books that have now been banned from school libraries and book clubs.

I do silently weep for the kids who can now only read what certain wicked Republicans tell them to read. Thank you, Greg Abbott. This article is not just a call to activism, it is a red hot quaking alert. A tsunami of a hate storm has engulfed Texas, and we need all hands on deck. We need this NOW.

It does not stop with the book banning. The morning after pill has now been banned as well. Not content with merely limiting a woman from having an abortion in Texas, the GOP has moved on to contraception.

We MUST stop them, with our voices.

And we CAN stop them, if we make Texas a priority. We can stop them if we reach every single voter in Texas – particularly females. And stop them we must.

To quote the now-banned “The Nowhere Girls”: “It is all the girls, all their voices, calling out as loud as they can. They burn through darkness. They brand the night.”

Please save this quote. Please keep your eyes open as to what they’re doing. And PLEASE know we can win Texas. We can “brand the night” with our calls for justice. We must do this. They need us now more than ever.
