This Mehmet Oz – McCormick debacle in Pennsylvania is playing out perfectly for the Democrats

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

The Pennsylvania Senate race is shaping up almost perfectly for the Democrats. Oz and McCormick likely heading to a recount, which will cost their side momentum. If Oz wins, he’s a gaffe machine. If McCormick wins, Trump will try to save face by claiming it was rigged against Oz.

Best case scenario for the Republicans is if McCormick quickly wins and then Trump quickly falls in line behind him. But when Trump endorsed Oz, Oz didn’t go up in the polls at all. So Trump can’t help McCormick any even if he does endorse him in the general election; Trump can only hurt McCormick by going against him.

Meanwhile Conor Lamb has immediately and emphatically endorsed John Fetterman, meaning the Democrats are going to be as united in this race as they reasonably can be.

The only way this primary race could have gone even better for the Democrats would have been if scandal plagued extremist Barnette had won the Republican nomination. But as things stand, a gaffe machine like Oz (who’s somehow getting worse at politics as the race goes on), or a McCormick nomination that’s disputed by Trump, is putting Fetterman and the Democrats in an ideal position to seize momentum in this race. You can volunteer for or donate to Fetterman here.
